July 18, 2011 - SO YOU WANT MICHAEL MADSEN? Signs Distribution Deal With Afterlight

PRESS RELEASE
For Immediate Release

Hollywood Insider Documentary "So You Want Michael Madsen?" Receives Distribution Deal

Stan Harrington's star studded documentary has secured a distribution agreement with Afterlight Pictures and is scheduled for release in the Fall of 2011.

Atlanta, GA (July 18, 2011) - Afterlight Pictures, an Atlanta based entertainment company, today announced they have reached an agreement with Stan Harrington and Xristos Productions to release their award winning documentary "So You Want Michael Madsen?".

"So You Want Michael Madsen?" profiles the need, journey and obsession of independent filmmakers to secure name talent for their films.  The documentary includes exclusive interviews with Golden Globe and Emmy winning actors John Saxon ("Enter the Dragon") and Holland Taylor ("Two and a Half Men"); also Doug Hutchison ("The Green Mile"), Paula Jai Parker ("Hustle and Flow"), Adrian Zmed ("T.J. Hooker"), Jim Parrack ("True Blood"), and of course Michael Madsen ("Reservoir Dogs").  The film has earned "Best Documentary - Las Vegas Film Festival" and "Golden Reel Award - Nevada Film Festival".

"The most rewarding part of this project was the realization that most actors value their craft and are hungry for quality content," said director Stan Harrington.  "Their reward comes from the satisfaction of expressing themselves through unique roles and not the compensation they receive for these roles."

This behind the Hollywood curtain documentary offers something to filmmakers of every level," said Zeke Flatten, President of Afterlight Pictures.  "Stan's approach humanizes celebrities and empowers filmmakers to go after the talent they desire for their films.  It also provides the general audience with insight into how actors choose their projects."

March 30, 2011 - Afterlight Joins The ALTERED Team

PRESS RELEASE
For Immediate Release

Zeke Flatten and Afterlight Pictures join the Kely McClung movie ALTERED

Zeke Flatten, CEO of Afterlight Pictures, has signed on as an Associate Producer for the new action/horror/thriller ALTERED written and directed by Kely McClung.

ALTERED is the complex, mind-bending thriller from award-winning action director Kely McClung.

McClung is keeping the story close to the vest, but did have this to say, "ALTERED is ostensibly a horror film, but with a radical departure from mainstream story structure, and of course, besides my own twisted ideas of thrills and scares, there will be a lot of action!"

ALTERED starts production this June and will be filming in Chicago, Atlanta, and towns in northern Indiana. The cast is still being assembled but includes two of McClung's co-stars from earlier films, Robert Pralgo ("Vampire Diaries," "The Joneses," "Blood Ties") and Stan Harrington ("Kerberos," "Bred in the Bone," "The Craving Heart"). Besides directing, Kely McClung ("American Ninja IV," "Blood Ties," "Perception") will also star, and ALTERED introduces Amanda Dreschler in her first starring role.

McClung said of Dreschler, "I was lucky enough to work with Amanda last year as I helped direct a few scenes with her in the Harrington movie, "Creed." Since much of ALTERED is determined by the shifting perspectives of the female lead, this was probably the most critical role to cast, and Amanda is not only extremely beautiful, strong, and talented, she has that incredible “X-factor” which will make her a huge star."

“ALTERED is going to be a roller coaster ride that takes the audience to the edge of their sanity… and then pushes them off the ledge,” said Zeke Flatten.  “We are excited to be part of the team and to be working with Kely McClung again.”

Afterlight Pictures distributed McClung's first directorial effort, the critically acclaimed "Blood Ties" (AOF's "Action Film of the Year," Indie Fest "Best of Festival," End of the Pier "Best International Film").

ALTERED is being produced by McClung's Media Arts International Film Corporation, and with Robert L. Street of Independent Film Finance, LLC in association with Afterlight Pictures.

December 13, 2010 - BLOOD TIES Signs Distribution Deal With Afterlight

PRESS RELEASE

Award Winning Movie “Blood Ties” Signs Distribution Deal with Afterlight Pictures

Indie filmmakers Kely McClung and Rob Pralgo sign an agreement with Afterlight Pictures for the worldwide distribution of their award winning action film “Blood Ties”.

Atlanta, GA (December 13, 2010) - Afterlight Pictures, an Atlanta based entertainment company, today announced that they have signed a distribution agreement for Kely McClung’s directorial debut, “Blood Ties.”  The film is scheduled for a U.S. and Canada DVD and VOD (video on demand) release date of February 15th, 2011.  Release dates for additional markets will be announced in the near future.

“Blood Ties” is a stylish, plot twisting, independent action film, starring Kely McClung (American Ninja 4, Miami, Kerberos) and Rob Pralgo (The Vampire Diaries, The Joneses, The Blind Side), and co-starring Erik Markus Schuetz (Ong Bak, The Sanctuary).  “Blood Ties” shatters all expectations for low-budget independent films with its well choreographed fights sequences and exotic locations.  The film was shot in three counties (Thailand, Cambodia, and U.S.) and four U.S. cities (Atlanta, Miami, Washington D.C., and Roanoke, VA) with a total production budget of only $20,000.

Kely McClung wrote, directed, starred, and edited “Blood Ties” with the Robert Rodriguez "Rebel Without A Crew" model.  The film boasts a total cast of more than a hundred, but a crew of only three.  Awards include “Action Film of the Year” at the Action on Film International Film Festival, “Best of Festival,” and "Best Visual Effects," at Indie Fest USA International Film Festival, "Best Director" at Big Bang Film Festival, "Best International Feature" at the Rincon International Film Festival in Puerto Rico, and "Best International Film" at The End of the Pier International Film Festival in the U.K..

Peter Demon of Mediasaurs writes, "It is no wonder that this film has earned so many awards... It has more guts and heart than most mainstream action films. It is refreshing to see an indie film push as hard as this one does."

“Kely McClung shows independent filmmakers that there isn’t anything you can’t tackle on a low-budget film,” said Zeke Flatten, President of Afterlight Pictures.  “We are proud and excited to have “Blood Ties” as the first title in our catalogue of films for distribution.”

McClung and Pralgo selected Afterlight Pictures because of the company's creative marketing plans and their embrace of modern delivery opportunities.  “They’re an innovative distribution company that works hand in hand with the filmmakers allowing them to contribute their own input and ideas in the distribution process.  We made this film thinking totally outside the box, why would we want to put it back in the box with conventional 'Hollywood' low-budget film distribution?” said Kely McClung.  "We received dozens of offers and inquiries, but we continued to search for a company that we could work with to craft the distribution of our movie with the same care and dedication I put into making it, and are thrilled to be working with Afterlight Pictures on the release of our film to a worldwide audience."
